A warm welcome to St Michael's Church, Hythe

The congregations of St Michael's (in the Parish of St Leonard) and Hythe Methodist Church (South Kent Methodist Circuit) have been close for many years, worshipping together in each other's Churches on occasion and sharing in each other's festivals. In mid-2010 they decided to enter into a formal Church Building Sharing Agreement, and on 2 October 2011 the relationship was cemented in spectacular fashion when the St Michael's folk crossed the Royal Military Canal to move into the newly named St Michael's Methodist-Anglican Church Centre for an inaugural joint service. Initially it had been thought that the two congregations would retain their separate identities but, as we met and talked, it rapidly became evident that we shared much in common with little to keep us apart. We decided therefore that the two congregations should henceforth worship together as one. Our Services, including Holy Communion, now embrace both Methodist and Anglican forms using alternately  the Anglican Book of Common Prayer (BCP) and Methodist Orders of Service Both Methodist and Anglican Hymnals are used and all Services and other Church activities are open to all in the joined congregations. Our vision is truly to be one worshipping body in Christ anticipating the fulfilment of the Covenant between the Church of England and the Methodist Church of Great Britain.

If you are newly resident or are a visitor to the lovely resort town of Hythe, you will find a warm welcome at our Church Centre.

Sunday Services

Sunday worship is at 11 00 am every Sunday, and varies according to the pattern below. As the church is a partnership between the Methodist Church and the Church of England, our communion services are taken from the Methodist and C of E prayer-books alternately. Everyone is welcome to join us for any or all our services.

1st Sunday in each month Methodist Morning Worship

2nd Sunday in each month Holy Communion (Church of England)

3rd Sunday in each month Methodist Morning Worship

4th Sunday in each month Holy Communion (Methodist)

5th Sunday (if applicable) Methodist Morning Worship

Weekday Services

Tuesday at 11 00 am Holy Communion (Church of England)

Pastoral Care
